When it comes down to it, the biggest part of my job is to understand who you are and what you do. Then, and only then, can I begin to capture you and your aims and aspirations in a logo or a piece of creative. So I have a very simple three step plan. And it goes like this....
It's all about you, you, you. Yes it is! The more you can tell me the better. It is an interesting part of the process because it often makes clients take a long hard look at themselves (but not in a bad way). To be able to communicate you have to have an idea of who you are, what you do, what you want to say and where you want to go. When you come and see me about a job this is what we'll talk about. Think of it as therapy. Only nicer.
Once I have a clear brief of what you want me to do for you I will usually ask you to clarify it. That way we'll both be singing off the same hymn sheet. And all our ducks will be in a row. And we'll all be saluting the same flag. And other such nonsense.
But once we've decided what I am doing I'll get to work. And that usually involves thinking. Then thinking some more. I usually don't like to commit mouse to mouse pad until I have a very good idea what it is I want to do. I might go for a walk or have a cup of tea, just to make sure what I do will be right.
Once I am happy with what I am going to present to you I will send it over or take it to you. Then we can take a look at it together and decide if it's doing the trick, if it meets the brief and if you like it. After that, if there are still things to tweak or mess about with, I go back to the office and do it until it is absolutely spot on. And then when you are happy, and I mean really happy, we'll send it off to whoever needs it - web developer, printers, whoever. Job done. Lovely.
But it doesn't stop there. I am always here so you can call me at any time (within reason) to talk about something you thought of in the night, something someone told you at the pub or something you thought of when you reviewed the design again. As long as you're happy, I am happy.
