My name is Tab Parry. I studied graphic design at Croydon College. For that I got a piece of paper that got my foot in the door at my first job, for Duttons in Bristol. After that I worked for Bray Leino in Devon and Breakfast of Champions in Covent Garden before setting up Tigerplum.
Working at big agencies gave me a bunch of useful experience and the confidence to take on big brand projects. Among the brands I was lucky enough to design for were Wrigley’s, BP, Olbas, Bausch and Lomb, Microsoft, L’Oreal, T-mobile and Dulux.
Curiously enough, the paint connection is strong. During college I had a job mixing paint for B&Q. People say I have a good eye for colour. Mmmmmm. Where did that come from?
I love surfing and travelling and have spent time working in Australia as a ‘Jillaroo’. Don’t ask. It involves doing all kinds of unglamorous things to cattle. Sometimes you have to do these things to pay your passage.
After all my globe trotting and getting big city experience I am thrilled to be working and living in Devon. I grew up here so it’s nice to be back home, although I have grown out of getting a kick out of being chased by cows. Mind you, with the experience I’ve got now, they wouldn’t dare would they?
And don’t get me started on celebrity magazines. Can’t get enough of ‘em.
